My landlady Katharina and partner Erik threw an impromptu party on the beach last night. Graham took me down to the beach as far as the car would go and the rest of the walk was uneventful. We got there just as the music started. Erik has a band that plays around the area once a month and several band members brought along their guitars. Erik is the vocalist and has a nice baritone voice, enhanced by the cigarette smoking. I would have loved to get up and dance, but had to settle for chair dancing. Katharina counted ten different nationalities were present. she counts me as an American, not a Latvian. No fair double dipping. Where else could you find that kind of diversity?
It was a lovely night for a party and the beach was especially soothing for my jangled nerves. I must figure out a way to get to the beach more often. Since my cast is removable, I'll have to convince the doctor to let me take it off to go for a swim after my stitches come out.

No wonder refreshing your blog didn't work: it's June and has been for almost two weeks! Glad to read the operation went well, and yes I was channeling your anesthesiologist. Singing and music are great touches. So sad our Skype didn't work out so well but am grateful to have seen and joked with you. We haven't aged a bit. Dan said I was a superb social planner so I quit on the spot and demanded more pay. Take care and keep laughing.
