and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne*?
The song we sing at midnight on New Years Eve is a peculiar one. Based on a Robert Burns poem, what do those lyrics mean? They're posed as a rhetorical question--should we forget our old friendships and move on? That last phrase--"auld Lang syne" is from the old Scortish way of saying, "for (the sake of) old times".
So as this New Year rolls out, I want to acknowledge my dear friends, old and new. That includes family members, too. With your support and loving thoughts it made life a lot brighter in the midst of all the turmoil going on in the world.
Interesting times are ahead of us this year and I cherish our friendships even more as we join our hearts in praying for world peace.
