I borrowed a bicycle from Anna and Victor, so I could get myself back ans forth while I'm here. Sumo is the house dog.
I started this blog in 2004 when I walked my first Camino in Spain. Since that time I've walked two others, the links are to the left. In between, I've travelled throughout Europe and Africa and most recently the US. I'll be embarking on another long distance walk on the Florida Scenic Train, starting in March of 2019.

Paddle, peddle and piddle
Had a lovely day canoeing on the River Halliiste. I haven't canoed in a long while--done rafting and kayaking. I went solo, so I had to propel and steer myself with a crosswind. It made for an interesting trip. But I loved it. The river was flat and meandered amongst the tall grasses. I have to mention that here in Sooma there is a "fifth season" in the spring when the snowmelt causes the rivers to flood upwards of 6 meters higher than normal. Here's a photo of one house underwater. They expect this every year, do they build their houses to withstand this phenomenon, which draws a lot of visitors who come to canoe and go bog stomping.
