Sacred Sites of South Africa

At the beginning of August, I told my physical therapist that I wanted to be able to travel by the end of the month.  Between PT sessions, swimming and yoga I feel really fit.  So, now that I've recovered from my broken leg, I decided to treat myself to something way out of the box. On Friday I head to South Africa to meet up with Michael Tellinger and visit sacred sites and stone circles dating back before recorded history. In other words, a hell of a long time ago. Even earlier than historians and archaeologists believe. I'll be there a whole month starting near Johannesburg and ending up in Cape Town. So when I get a wifi connection I will post some blogs of my next adventure. Check out Michael on TedTalk. You will be amazed at what he's discovered about the origins of humankind. I expect this to be the trip of a lifetime.

Over the Moon

I just couldn't resist commenting on the Olympics. There's BBC television in the apartment  so I've really enjoyed watching the Olympics from the GB team perspective. I'm even rooting for the British  athletes and enjoy the opportunity to watch events not often highlighted in the US.   The two favorite comments I've heard from the athletes when asked how they feel--"over the moon" and "I'm speechless" after thanking everyone "under the sun".   Much credit for the GB success has been given to their national lottery that provides funding for the athletes.  πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Torrox Pueblo

Physical therapy continues and I'm feeling pretty comfortable getting around on the bus to and from Nerja.  Linda brought me up to see Torrox Pueblo and have some tapas on the main plaza, which is artfully decorated with colorful umbrellas and a refreshing water feature for the kid in all of us.  The pueblo is a bit larger than Frogiliana and not as charming, with some high rise apartments and expanses of concrete.

Look at all that hardware!!!

I had my last checkup with the doctor and had to explain why I "walked" into his office. Last month they said "no weight bearing for another four weeks".  Did I listen?  No way. Promptly scheduled physical therapy and have been weight bearing ever since. My recovery is going well and I have as a goal to be travellimg by the end of the month, so my PT is on board with this. I've been swimming at my new place almost every day, which has been really great for the exercise but a break from the heat as well.  It's a nice salt water pool that I can swim laps in and is virtually empty at the deep end.

Doesn't that look like a loose screw?
