Doesn't that look like a loose screw?
I started this blog in 2004 when I walked my first Camino in Spain. Since that time I've walked two others, the links are to the left. In between, I've travelled throughout Europe and Africa and most recently the US. I'll be embarking on another long distance walk on the Florida Scenic Train, starting in March of 2019.

Look at all that hardware!!!
I had my last checkup with the doctor and had to explain why I "walked" into his office. Last month they said "no weight bearing for another four weeks". Did I listen? No way. Promptly scheduled physical therapy and have been weight bearing ever since. My recovery is going well and I have as a goal to be travellimg by the end of the month, so my PT is on board with this. I've been swimming at my new place almost every day, which has been really great for the exercise but a break from the heat as well. It's a nice salt water pool that I can swim laps in and is virtually empty at the deep end.

No, that's not a loose screw. It's a lag screw across one of probably two fracture sites to better hold Humpty Dumpty together. The plate and screws complete the job. Looks like your surgeon did a very nice job! You're told to be non-weight bearing because the hardware fixation is not strong enough to bear your full weight without the chance of bending, breaking or loosening. The healing bone adds the needed strength and support to bear full weight. Oh well, you made it!!
