I started this blog in 2004 when I walked my first Camino in Spain. Since that time I've walked two others, the links are to the left. In between, I've travelled throughout Europe and Africa and most recently the US. I'll be embarking on another long distance walk on the Florida Scenic Train, starting in March of 2019.

Kungsleden - Day 7
A sore knee made it very difficult walking yesterday, so I opted for an optional helicopter ride back to Nikkaluokta, which normally would of consisted of two short hikes with a boat ride in the middle. There were about a hundred of us that booked, so they had two helicopters running the 8 minute flight until everyone was off the mountain. This was unlike the mountain rescue last year when I broke my leg, but I had to remind myself how fragile our bodies are and I was grateful my body held up as well as it did. I begin to wonder if my wilderness hiking days are behind me. This was by far the most challenging hiking I've ever done.
