I started this blog in 2004 when I walked my first Camino in Spain. Since that time I've walked two others, the links are to the left. In between, I've travelled throughout Europe and Africa and most recently the US. I'll be embarking on another long distance walk on the Florida Scenic Train, starting in March of 2019.

Spanish Classes
I've just finished my third week of Spanish classes. I found a great school here in Frigiliana called Bel-Lingua, which is owned and run by a German woman--how ironic. But she's fluent in Spanish and has been in Spain for a number of years. Our instructor is Amanda, a Spanish woman, who is a ball of fire and keeps us on our toes. I like the class, Amanda incorporates audio, visual, writing, and speaking, so we get most of the senses activated. There are six of us in the class, which meets for an hour and half on Tuesdays and Thursdays. David and Rosie and Zena are from England and Lewis and Abby are from Scotland. I'm having a lot of fun and at the same time realize how much there is to learn in order to be fluent. I will never take for granted my English speaking skills. I get a chance just about every day to interact with the Spanish-speaking locals and try out new phrases. Understanding their replies is where I have difficulty. I can't anticipate all the responses I might get. I'm using Google translator on the go and also incorporating Duo Lingo, a mobile app for additional lessons and there are a few online websites which are quite good, too. The school also offers Skype sessions so that when students return home they can continue with their studies.

I hit the *1 button at the end of your blog instead of the comment button. Not sure what that did. Oh well, the mysteries of the computing world. Anyway. I bet you are learning more Spanish than you realize. Hasta luego.
