Frigiliana in distance
|
I started this blog in 2004 when I walked my first Camino in Spain. Since that time I've walked two others, the links are to the left. In between, I've travelled throughout Europe and Africa and most recently the US. I'll be embarking on another long distance walk on the Florida Scenic Train, starting in March of 2019.

The Weather
In less than a week, I've experienced an earthquake and a severe thunderstorm. The earthquake's epicenter was in the Mediterranean of the coast of Malaga and registered over 6.0. I felt it on Monday morning last week with the bed shaking in the wee hours of the morning. It felt similar to the small tremors I've felt in Ashland and elsewhere. Feels like a big truck passing by. But it caused quite a buzz because it's not that common and many of the visitors from abroad have never felt one before. I probably wouldn't have mentioned it, except for the tremendous storm we had on Friday night. It started late in the evening and the lightening was so impressive, it kept me awake for hours. Quite a light show with lots of thunder, too, and some rain but not a torrential downpour. I took a short hike on Sunday down in the riverbed and what was bone dry a week earlier had plenty of running water and a lovely waterfall. Otherwise, the weather has been great, in the high 40's at night and ,low 60's during the day with sunny skies. Early morning and late afternoon are my favorite times of the day and the photography is best then, too. Here are photos of the Sunday hike in the Rio Higueron valley.
