I started this blog in 2004 when I walked my first Camino in Spain. Since that time I've walked two others, the links are to the left. In between, I've travelled throughout Europe and Africa and most recently the US. I'll be embarking on another long distance walk on the Florida Scenic Train, starting in March of 2019.

Carcassone
The castle and walls in Carcassone is an exquisite example of a Carhar stronghold which had been restored over the last 150 years. Referred to as Le Citè, it encompasses shops, restaurants and cafes, much as they would have existed centuries ago. A bit of rain made the mystery of this place more palpable as we imagined life back in the 13th century with a isit to the castle and the ramparts. Lunch of local cassoulet rounded out the day.
