I started this blog in 2004 when I walked my first Camino in Spain. Since that time I've walked two others, the links are to the left. In between, I've travelled throughout Europe and Africa and most recently the US. I'll be embarking on another long distance walk on the Florida Scenic Train, starting in March of 2019.

Driekops Petroglyphs, Kimberley
Today we headed into the Karoo to the glaciated andesite bed of the Riet River to explore the staggering and aweinspiring petroglyph site of Driekopseiland. Here we discovered a wealth of 3500 rock carvings and marvel at how the landscape tells – or rather is – a story. These shamanic petroglyphs (Rock engravings) mark a sacred ritual site.
