Flora of South Africa

The flora in South Africa has been remarkable and that of the cape is even more unique and has a special designation as I discovered on Table Mountain.  It's spring here so the trees are budding out and the wild flowers are bursting forth. Spring is one of my favorite times of year.  Here on the peninsula winter is their wet season, so everything is green right now and warming up. In the north, summer is the rainy season, so folks there are looking forward to rain soon. The contrast is pretty stark as we've ventured almost 3000 I'm on this bold adventure from north near Johannisnerg to the Capetown peninsula.

First signs of spring near Kaepseschoot
No sign of green yet near Waterval Burfen

     Dune flowers

    Rainforest on the coast

Protea in full bloom on the peninsula
Western Cape fertile with orchards and vineyards.
    Wild geraniums everywhere
   Beef River teeming with life
