Baden Lake, Uwharrie National Forest

I spent three nights here and really enjoyed being right on the lake. There’s a 5.6 mile loop that’s mostly along the banks of the lake and coves along the way.  Between the last two hurricanes and a wet winter, there must have been over two dozen fallen trees that were totally uprooted. Looked like the lake rose about 3-4’ and eroded the embankment.  So it was slow going at times. Today I hiked along the Uwharrie River which was interesting and slow. They allow horses on most of the trails here, so many spots were churned up by horse traffic.
