Carolina Beach State Park

I spent two lovely nights at this campground situated between the Cape  Fear River and the Atlantic. The two are connected by an inland waterway so the hiking and sightseeing offered a little bit of everything. The park itself has about 9 miles of trails so I spent the better part of the day exploring the area. The second day I explored the rest of the island and discovered Fort Fisher, a Civil War battlement that was defended mostly by boys and young men. Well we know how that story ended.
