Blue Ridge Parkway

I spent several days driving on the BRP, making lots of stops to catch an unbelievable view or hike to the many waterfalls found in this part of North Carolina.  The Pisgah National Forest Visitor Center is staffed  by knowledgeable volunteers and armed with my maps, guides and AllTrails app I ventured off for some incredible moments. My first destination was Skinny Dip Falls, aptly named for its many pools to take a dip in.  It’s on a trail called Mountain-to-Sea and I met a bunch of through hikers.   The next stop was a place called Graveyard Fields, so named due to some prehistoric mounds that were destroyed in a forest fire in 1935, so no remnants of its name still exist. Two Falls, named Upper and Lower were a short distance away. Lower Falls had a climb of 60+  stairs to get to the base. Easily worth it. Then I headed off the BRP to another fall off the road, called Sunburst Falls, followed by a three- mile slog up a gravel road to thef breathtaking Courthouse falls.
